When am I gonna learn?

I have been living, breathing, walking, stumbling, and trying to run, on this planet for 23 years, 6 months, 3 weeks, 6 days and about 12 hours. I would say that is long enough to know better than to get a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad sunburn.

This picture does not do my first of many sunburn of the season justice. While doing what I thought was a respectable task -raking the whole yard to surprise my parents - I exposed my pale white, barely freckled back to Mother Nature's most powerful rays of the season for over 5 hours.

I have a large collection of sunscreen. In fact, I have three bottles of the best sunscreen I have ever owned: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch 85. Yes, 85. I went away to the lovely, classy Panama City Beach for 7 days with this stuff and did not burn once. I protected my delicate, sensitive, unpredictable skin from UVA/UVB/days of misery and burn with this stuff.

Did I use it this weekend?

No.

Why?

I don't know. But, what I do know: I need to learn the hard way. And trust me, not being able to roll over in bed = learning the hard way. I sit at work with a ziplock container between my shirt and back. I am THAT sunburned girl that EVERYONE stares at and talks about behind her back. Hell, I do it behind other people's backs. Karma.

Moral of the story? Wear sunblock. Apparently your genes can't change over the winter to allow you to tan for the first time in your life.

Going to aloe, peace.
